Something new in my life…..

Ah, yes it has been a while since I last posted. A lot has developed since then!

I recently became a wedding officiant and have done several ceremonies thusfar. I am in NO WAY representing myself as a “Reverend” or anything of the sort and I won’t perform any ceremonies in a church setting. I just thought it would be a great way to unite people who love eachother and do not want all the “hoopla”.

My hubby has been very supportive and acts as my “assistant”. It is the greatest feeling to unite two people in love! Basically anyone can get ordained online for next to nothing, which amazes me, and it is all totally legal!

Below are some photos from the wedding I did last weekend on the beach:

A Digital Recipe Page

I am creating a digital family recipe book, with all of my relatives “famous” recipes. I am so excited that I actually have a few photos of them in the kitchen, so it should be pretty cool when I am done with it. I just want my daughter to have something from her heritage to hold dear and pass on after I am long gone. I am truly grateful for these photos and recipes, and I hope my daughter will be as well….

A few Digi Pages…

I am still trying to get the hang of Digital Scrapbooking… Here are a few pages I made over the last couple of days with the Creative Memories Storybook program. Most of the elements I used are not Creative Memories. I gathered tons of freebies online! The nice thing about this program, is you can incorporate other elements from outside sources, and add them to it.

The first two pages are from the scrapbook retreat I did in April, and the other one is just my daughter playing outside on one of the first nice days we had earlier this month…

It’s been a while…

I must apologize for my lack of posting lately! I have been so darn busy with working and running around and taking care of every day life, that I have neglected my dear blog…

Things here are so crazy. My husband’s hours were cut in half and I had to get a part time job as well. I also have been doing everything I can to try to make a buck… Times are so tough all over, I am very grateful that my husband is working at least half time!

Today is a sad day. My friend had to put her beautiful dog Angel to sleep today. I have been helping her out by taking Angel out for potty breaks while my friend was working long hours. The poor dog had cancer and her organs were failing. My friend held onto her as long as she could, but it was time to let her go. I will miss sweet Angel so much… Here is a photo of her with my daughter. We took pics the other day, because we knew she wasn’t going to be around much longer…

Found a LIFE SAVER for those much needed breaks!

I don’t know if these exsist in other parts of the country (world), but I have just discovered a new DROP-IN child care facility in my town!

I checked it out today to see how I felt about it. It was only $7 an hour, so I ended up dropping my daughter off there for 2 hours. I needed to get some running done without having to drag her in and out of the booster seat in the messy snow and parking lots. It was perfect! She loved it and I loved having a break!

So, if any of you moms are frazzled out there or have an emergency, check to see if there are any “Drop-In” child care centers in your area. The one I went to has licensed workers and they are all CPR certified. They are even open until 11pm on Fri and Sat if parents want to go to dinner or something, but I will take her to her Grandma’s for that late of a night….

I am totally grateful I found this place!!

Pastel Portrait of my Kids

I have seen this incredible artist at several craft shows and I finally broke down and had her do a portrait of my son and daughter. I will never actually have a photo of both my kids together, so I am so happy to have this beautiful work of art!! To see more of her work, go here: www.annejonesportraits.com

Chicken & Noodles

Anyone who knows me, knows that I despise cooking, and would much rather go out to eat every day. It’s not that I am a bad cook, I can do it, I just would rather do something else… But sometimes I must break down and force myself into the kitchen…

So, here is a really EASY and DELICIOUS meal I like to make for these BELOW ZERO temps in the midwest. Actually, I am making it tonight!!

    Chicken & Noodles

3 – large skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1 – can Campbell’s Cream of Chicken soup
1 – bag Kluski noodles
1/2 stick butter (a whole stick tastes better, but sooooo fattening!)
3 or 4 – chicken boullion cubes
pepper and garlic powder to taste

Place chicken breasts in large pot. Cover with water, add boullion cubes and boil until no longer pink.

Remove chicken and shred with two forks.
Meanwhile, boil noodles in the same water you boiled chicken in. When noodles are done, add shredded chicken, seasonings, butter and Campbell’s soup to pot. Let simmer on low for 30 min or so. Serve with Texas Toast. Mmmmm!
